This news is horrifying.
The Australasian Society for the Study of Intellectual Disability (of which I am
the Secretary)will be holding a major regional conference in NZ next year.
This could adversley impact on the travel arrangements of delegates. I would
like to be kept informed of any developments. Our association might be able to
assist with lobying on this issue
However, I am pleased to advise that QANTAS Airlines (the Australian national
carrier) is very active in promoting the safe travel of passengers with
disability. This includes a major committment to providing assistance at all
airports, slide boards, slide sheets, hoists and nets. In addition, they are
currently redesigning transfer chairs to promote safety and comfort of QANTAS
passengers with disability.

Keith
