We are pleased to announce that the first meeting of the Northern branch of the Records Management Society will take place on Thursday 2nd December 2004 at the University of Salford, who have kindly allowed us to use their conference facilities. The University is easy to get to from any part of the North, and is only a few minutes from central Manchester by both train and road.
Given the impending deadline for full implementation of the Freedom of Information Act we thought that it would be useful to focus on FoI for our first meeting. Hopefully everyone has not overdosed on the subject
yet!
Not only have we accepted Mike Parsons' kind offer to give a talk, but his company Bramble cc has generously agreed to sponsor our event, which will include lunch! Paul Dodgson from Leicestershire County Council will also be speaking. His talk will focus on Freedom of Information from a local authority perspective.
We propose the following timetable for this particular meeting, but will be soliciting your views during the day for meeting formats for the future.
