Wonderful! This is how the goddess Gefjon is supposed to
have tricked the Swedish king Gylfi (the oxen were her
giant sons, they plowed away the island of Sjælland).
i know not from hides, but a standard unit of land measurement in the
Chartrain region (and beyond, of course) was the amount of land a team of oxen
could plow in a day.
