The National Collaborating Centre for Women's and Children's Health (NCC-WCH) is looking to appoint two Research Fellows to join our expanding multi-disciplinary, enthusiastic and friendly health services research team. The team includes epidemiologists, clinicians and medical information specialists. The Centre is funded by the National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) to produce evidence-based clinical guidelines for the National Health Service (NHS). We work collaboratively with Guideline Development Groups, whose membership include health care professionals and lay representatives, and an extensive range of stakeholders. The Centre is based at the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) with work space opening in January 2005 for the team who will develop new paediatric guidelines at The Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health in London.
The main duties of these Research Fellows will be to undertake systematic reviews and meta-analysis of research evidence for guideline development groups. Applicants could have a background in medicine, or a profession allied to medicine, epidemiology, statistics or public health. Experience in paediatrics or maternity care would be particularly welcomed. Candidates should have a postgraduate qualification in epidemiology or a related research field. Experience of literature searching, synthesising research evidence, analysing quantitative data and writing reports and/or research papers is essential. Training, personal development and the pursuit of research interests are encouraged within the Centre.
Our current work programme includes guidelines on:
* Long-acting reversible contraception
* Intrapartum care
* Heavy menstrual bleeding
* Urinary tract infection in children
* Urinary incontinence
* Fever in children
