The Centre for Rural Economy (CRE) is seeking to appoint a Runciman Research Fellow and a Research Associate to complement CRE's current interests in rural development in Britain and Europe. Applications are invited from candidates with strong research experience and a background in geography, economics, sociology, political science, or other related social science discipline. A postgraduate degree (preferably doctorate) or equivalent research experience is an essential requirement for both posts.
CRE is an interdisciplinary social science research centre in the School of Agriculture, Food & Rural Development at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne. Broadly, it is interested in research that supports the development of a sustainable rural economy.
The successful candidates will join CRE at an exciting stage of development, as it undergoes expansion and embarks on a new wave of major research initiatives. The Research Fellowship is available for 5 years and the Research Associate post is available for 3 years in the first instance.
