May I suggest 'modified landscape' is a bit broad but fits. I'd suggest
'manmade feature' as an NT of modified landscape but that's probably
sexist.
Human altered area sounds a bit strange to my ear and looks like we're
clutching at straws trying to define something (which of course we are -
I'm sure this must have come up as an issue before!)
Of course we could always change the scope note for earthwork.
As to bomb crater - 'modified surface' works for me.

Hello Folks
when indexing a quarry against an evidence type, what would people use
for its physical remains? Its not quite a modified surface, enhanced
natural feature, or earthwork. Any ideas? TIme for a new term - Human
ALtered area? Or something?
Assuming any of you think about such things...
thanks
best wishes
