Hi, Mike
Sounds interesting.
But
1) sorry I can't help as I know nothing about 14th - 16th Century art
and
2) can I put in a plea that you sort out your language: we are not THE
lame, or indeed, the LAME. If this is a culturally appropriate
reference in terms of the timeframe you're considering, then can you
put it in inverted commas or add a 'sic' or something because, whilst
this could be a valuable contribution to the whole debate about the
history of the representation of disabled people, careless and
inappropriate language will pretty much nullify anything you discover
