Next June, there are two important Industrial Ecology events happening in Scandinavia . The International Society of Industrial Ecology <http://www.is4ie.org> is holding its 3 rd meeting in Stockholm in June 12-15, 2005. The meeting will bring many interesting sessions and plenaries on topics ranging form eco-design to industrial symbiosis. Visit the ISIE 05 conference web pages <http://www.isie-2005.org/home/index.asp?sid=770&mid=1> .
In the following week, NTNU will host ECOS 2005 <http://www.chem.ntnu.no/ecos2005/> , the 18th International Conference on Efficiency, Cost, Optimization, Simulation and Environmental Impact of Energy Systems in Trondheim, Norway. The conference runs from June 20-23. NTNU's Industrial Ecology Programme will host a 2-day short course on Industrial Ecology before the conference, based on the new textbook. There will be a special session relating to the Industrial Ecology of Energy Systems, and Roland Clift will give a keynote presentation. Other interesting topics are renewable energy systems, CO2 capture and abatement technologies (where NTNU is a world leader), exergy analysis and process integration. The deadline of abstracts is the October 30th, and the conference has high quality conference proceedings.
Furthermore, the Industrial Ecology Programme and the Norwegian Institute of Consumer Research will host a workshop on sustainable consumption 8-10 February 2005 in Oslo. This workshop is organized in collaboration with AIST and UNEP. Further information is available at http://www.indecol.ntnu.no.
