Dear fellow CEPHADians,
As you may recall, we closed our Bornholm conference by announcing the
intention to publish a book on the intersection between art, philosophy,
and design. The idea was that a book based on the papers from the
earlier CEPHAD conferences and the conference on Bornholm.
Over the last few months, we have discussed the project. Difficulty
acquiring finished material from the earlier conferences means that the
project is less viable than we thought originally.
We have some very good papers from Bornholm. Nevertheless, using only
the Bornholm papers, we would be collecting a number of unrelated
conference papers into a proceeding volume with a title as the main
unifying element. Producing a unified book of lasting value is what we
had in mind. This is impossible as it now seems, and creating such a
book from the Bornholm conference papers alone would require more work
and coordination on the part of authors and editors than we can
reasonably expect.
A proceeding volume would not do justice to papers that deserve wider
visibility. We have therefore reached the conclusion that it is better
to let the authors publish their work individually in journals or other media.
We regret that we must give up the book project announced on Bornholm.
We apologize to those who have worked on draft chapters for the intended
book, or submitted them already. We trust that the work will not be
wasted, and we will be happy to suggest other channels of publication.
We believe that CEPHAD is viable as a loose community of colleagues
sharing a cluster of related interests. We hope to meet again from time
to time to enjoy each other's company, expand, and maintain personal
contacts to other CEPHADians, and share each other's current fascinations.
All the best,
Ken and Per.
