medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
I had hoped to get to this yesterday (12. September), that being St. John Chrysostom's day. But perhaps early on the 13th will still do.
The Chrysostomic work commonly known medievally in Latin translation as the _De reparatione lapsi_ is generally known today under the Latin title _Paraenesis ad Theodorum lapsum_ (variants: _Ad Theodorum lapsum_; _Epistulae ad Theodorum lapsum_). An English-language translation of this that will be familiar to many is _Exhortation to Theodore after his Fall_. See:
http://www.chrysostom.org/writings.html#sermons
(under "Letters")
and
http://rosetta.reltech.org/reltech/canonical-refs.html
(in the expansion of the abbreviation "ChrTheodLaps").
But _To Theodore after his Fall_ and _Letters to Theodore after his Fall_ will also be readily understandable.
I hope this helps. And a belated happy St. Chrysostom's day!
Best,
John Dillon
