medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
This is probably too remote from your subject to be useful , but the Double
Penitential of Bede-Egbert (9th century?) and Burchard of Worms' Corrector
sive medicus (1008-1012) put the consumption of animal blood between two
texts dealing with unquestionably magical healing practices.
Bernadette Filotas
Does any of this ring a bell with anyone? Has anyone encountered similar
beliefs about the medicinal qualities of animals' blood? Why would the time
when hares are hunted be significant?
Many thanks
