Hi there
Apologies for any cross-posting, but there is a conference that might be of interest to students, both undergraduate and postgraduate.

CITY REGIONS: CREATING NEW URBAN FUTURES?
Monday 18th October 2004
London Voluntary Sector Resource Centre, 356 Holloway Road, London, N7 6PA
City-regions are emerging as significant territories with a growing economic, social and political significance in the context of heightened globalisation and urbanisation. Some see city-regions as key nodes within an increasingly interdependent global economy. Successful regions are interpreted as having successful cities at their core, capable of contributing to competitiveness and social cohesion. More critical views draw attention to their socio-spatial inequalities and lack of sustainable development. The growth and diversity of city-regions raises an array of economic, social, cultural and governance challenges for research, policy and practice. This conference seeks to critically engage with urban futures generated by the development and promotion of city-regions.
