Research governance: one-day courses, 2004
Since 01 April of this year, all research on health and social care taking
place wholly or in part in an NHS setting must comply with the Department
of Health’s Research Governance Framework.
This one-day course offers comprehensive training in the most important
aspects of the framework. It is aimed at all those who work in health or
social care research, who wish to understand their obligations in relation
to the framework. There will be presentations on the framework itself, on
regulatory law, sponsorship and indemnity, informed consent, and study
design. There will also be discussion of two research governance topics
currently at the top of the Trust’s and the main research funders’ agendas -
user involvement in research and diversity in the recruitment of research
subjects.
The sessions will be delivered by members of UCLH R&D Directorate and by
speakers from UCL and possibly other universities who are expert in their
fields. Each course will also include a senior figure from UCL, UCLH, or
another leading institution to discuss a specific aspect of research
governance.
