medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Hold it, you two. As I made clear in my original Saints of the Day posting, I'm transmitting Phyllis Jestice's information; I have nothing personally to do with the content of the postings. I am not, and have never claimed to be, a hagiologist, eminent or otherwise. And the comment about "woemen [sic] monkey[ing] around with the affairs of the Church", even if in jest, is offensive.

well, that's what happens when you let woemen monkey around with the affairs
of the Church, i suppose.

no, quite clear, and even somewhat reasonable.
for hagiography.

him publishing his tome on the Summa.
copies of which, in more or less original editions, i have seen, all of which,
if i recall rightly, have "Thomas de Vio" on the title plages, in addition to
"Cajetan".

apart from being the name of a saint
butbut, surley Cajetan de Vincenza wasn't a saint when T. de V. took the
moniker --they were near contemporaries, after all-- so he wasn't trying to
ride on *that* particular cassock tail.

for reasons which John has tried to explain.
