> I like the "don't ask, don't tell," analogy. It has long been maintained by a
number of catholic and protestants alike that the most famous Elizabethan Roman
Catholic was our good friend William Shakespeare. One does not have to look
deeply into Will's works--say HAMLET--to find doctrines such as purgatory, and
recently there was a piece on this list: Terrill Heaps shared in paradisum
with us--sound a little like the ending scene of HAMLET? The Anglo Catholic
version Terrill quoted, or something like it, was not (I believe, without
double checking) used in the very Calvinistic Church of England of Shakes' day.
But unfortunately we are getting into the renaissance here.
