Hello,
I am the newly appointed records manager at North Yorkshire County
Council. We are looking to fit out a designated records management
storage area and possibly a new dedicated store at the record office. We
are at the stage where we have to make some decisions about the very
basics of the practical records management operation. So, I am appealing
for people's recommendations on boxes (e.g. size/weight/type/suppliers)
and shelving (type/suppliers) for use in a records management store.
We have a pilot scheme running, which has c150 boxes in the system so
far. The boxes that have been used in this pilot have been the
'standard' R-Kive type box with lid (although we have had some boxes
sent to us that are slightly bigger) and they are currently on mobile
racking at the CRO.
Any advice/recommendations/top tips, on or off list, will be gratefully
received.
Many thanks.
Vicky Stretch.
