Although "Bagnorea" (the place's earliest recorded name form) was in use as recently as the 1860s, when a battle was named for it, B.'s hometown is today's Bagnoregio (VT).
More specifically, it is thought that B. hailed from that portion of Bagnoregio/Bagnorea today called Civita di Bagnoregio. Some photographs of this medieval hill town are here:

(watch the wrap!)
Here one can be shown the remains of a house said to be the one B. was born in. Another local attraction is St. Bonaventure's Cave.
Best,
John Dillon
PS: If we ignore subsequent changes in the calendar, today is also the 675th anniversary of the volcanic explosion marking the final recorded stage of the great eruption of Mt. Etna in 1329. Just in case you wanted to know.
