Word on the street is the EA removed their support because they weren't
convinced with the assumptions in the model for bioturbation/soil mixing

We have studied and used the cover systems model and believe it to be
reasonable. I have heard a rumour that the EA may have some objection to
it though. Does anyone know what there objection is?

Subject: Cover systems
Dear All,
I have recently received a remediation proposal containing a suggested
thickness of clean cover based on the BRE model "Cover Systems for Land
Regeneration" (BRE 465).
While this model was produced by BRE with involvement from the DTI and
NHBC, it doesn't seem to have been formally adopted or endorsed by
either the EA or DEFRA. The report enclosed with the model states that
it is a "document for discussion and review and a method for
consideration and implementation".
I would like to know whether anyone has had experience of the model and
has accepted it for PartIIA / Planning. I would however be grateful for
any opinions of the model and its acceptability.
Regards,
Darren Watson
