HBSMR is the name of the system produced by exeGesIS SDM Ltd. Although
it is colloquially referred to as exegesis the system has never been
called that. The original version was called SMR, version 2 was renamed
HBSMR (Historic Buildings Sites and Monuments Records), version 3 is
still titled HBSMR.
Hope this clear things up.

Can anybody tell me anything about the HBSMR software that is around? I
understand that there is new version out or about to come out. Is anyone
using it, is it good, how does it compare to exeGesis, and can you tell
me where I can get a bit more information please?
Thanks

Yes, the technology exists, either on the database level or the
application level. However, I would view this as a technical issue and
one of good practice, rather than a data standards issue. Most good
systems will save data audits to allow one view the data at any given
point in time: it would be good to see this as a requirement in more
software specifications in the heritage sector.
