Lecturer in Clinical Biomechanics
School of Health Care Professions
Centre for Rehabilitation and Human Performance Research
Faculty of Health and Social Care
£27,174 - £34,838 pa
The post is an exciting opportunity for a research active lecturer to
advance within a dynamic and fast-growing research environment. You will be
required to teach biomechanics at undergraduate and postgraduate levels to
students within the School of Health Care Professions, manage aspects of the
gait lab and to develop your research to a level consistent with submission
to the 2007 RAE exercise.
Teaching responsibilities would cover undergraduate and postgraduate courses
including the areas of prosthetics, orthotics, physiotherapy, podiatry,
sports science, and others. The main focus of teaching is
prosthetics/orthotics and postgraduate.
You will be supported in the development of your own research interests and
encouraged to collaborate with other members of the Centre for
Rehabilitation and Human Performance Research
(http://www.healthcare.salford.ac.uk/crhpr/). The Centre's research is
focussed around the themes of assistive devices, human movement studies and
clinical patient evaluation. There are over 20 active researchers and at
least 20 Research Students in the Centre. External research income since
2001 stands at £1.5Million, and includes three EU funded projects, Research
Council funding, finances from UK based charitable sources and industry
funds. The biomechanics and gait research is supported by purpose built
human movement and human performance laboratories. These house three 3D
motion analysis systems, 4 force plates, telemetry EMG analysis and other
equipment. There will be a new 35m x 12m laboratory in the new £18 million
Health Faculty building, due for completion in late 2005. The Centre hosts a
biannual international biomechanics conference "biomechanics of the lower
limb in health, disease and rehabilitation".
