Invitation to the British Academy Symposium:
Cultures of Commemoration: War Memorials Ancient and Modern

Venue: The British Academy, 10 Carlton House Terrace, London SW1Y 5AH
This inter-disciplinary conference offers an important opportunity to
explore cultural responses to the commemoration of war dead, ranging from
the Greek and Roman civilisations to the practices of the more recent past.
The conference will bring together experts working on Vietnam, the two
World Wars of the twentieth century, post-revolutionary France, nineteenth-
century England, Imperial Rome, the Hellenistic World, and Ancient Greece.

Izzet, Polly Low, John M, Graham Oliver, Larry Tritle, and Alison
Yarrington.
Conference fees
The registration fee for the colloquium is £30.00, with a discounted rate
of £20 for students and the retired. The fee includes tea and coffee and
lunch.
