Tracey,
We have been involved in the analysis of dust from an incinerator whereby very high levels of dioxins and furans were found, however PAHs were not detected.
Regards,
Gary

Subject: PAH's, Dioxins and Furans
Hello all
I have been asked to comment on a proposal for a SI on the site of an old
incinerator and have suggested testing for Dioxins and Furans. The
consultant has come back to me and suggested tested for PAH's as these are
a lot cheaper to test for, they tend to be present as a result of
incomplete combustian and they behave in much the same way in the
environment i.e.persistent. Therefore if there are no PAH's present there
will tend to be no Dioxins or Furans present.
Does anyone agree with this statement?
