We did a PLUS last Autumn and were disappointed in "Found a book you were
looking for", 51.2% - lower than the previous year, 57.5%. I don't feel
there was any difference between our larger and small libraries. We feel
that people are better informed about the books they want and have higher
expectations of finding them. I notice from the figures that are included
in the Proposals for the new Library Standards, that we are not the only
ones having a problem with this!
The "Found Information" was 72.2% this year and 70.8% last year.
Our "Staff Helpfulness was 74.6% this year, 74.7% last year. "Staff
knowledge" was 93.8% this year and 96.1% last year.
Best wishes
Viv.

Subject: Recent results from "PLUS" survey
Last year we carried out the latest PLUS survey. The results for the
questions "Did you find the book you were looking for" and "Did you get the
information you were looking for" were disappointing, particularly for the
Central Library. We have discussed the issue internally, and have come up
with some possible reasons why this might have happened, along with some
possible solutions.
But we wondering whether this was a national trend, or perhaps one that is
linked mainly to central libraries.
Any comments gratefully received, and I will summarise for the list
Thanks
