Hello,
I am truly sorry to hear this news. This is a tragic loss not only to those
who were fortunate enough to count Paul Abberley amongst their friends but
also to the Disability Studies community. His scholarship was truly
pioneering and he will be greatly missed. It has been a difficult time in
the discipline with the loss of so many fine scholars over these past few
months.
With deepest sympathy,
Nancy

Subject: Tragic Loss of a trusted friend friend
Dear All
It is with great sadness that I have to report the tragic death of Paul
Abberley - a valued friend and scholar of the highest order.
Paul passed away last week, Wednesday 14th April, following a short illness.
His activism and commitment to a disability studies agenda were an
inspiration to me and many others. His various contributions to the
development of a truly comprehensive social oppression theory of disability
have been enormously influential.
He will be sorely missed.
Colin B.
