**apologies for cross posting**
Dear list
A couple of notes about upcoming events run by the JISC's Technical
Advisory Service for Images:
(1) TASI Seminar in Bristol, 16 March
(2) TASI Workshops in Glasgow, 14-16 April
(1) TASI Seminar
There are still a few places available for the following seminar:
"Digital Images: Building up a Departmental Resource for Intranet Delivery"
- University of Bristol, 16 March, £75.
Over the past few years there has been a great push to make material
available on the Internet, but sometimes it can make more sense to limit a
resource to internal, institutional use.
This Seminar looks at the possibilities for pragmatic, cheap and easy
capture of departmental photograph or slide collections for intranet use
and the 'pros and cons' of doing so. It will be useful for department
managers, teaching or support staff - anyone with a small image collection
they want to exploit for teaching and learning.
Led by Karla Youngs and Ed Bremner, the workshop will include the following
presentations:
- "Moving from National to Departmental Focus" / Dr Jane Williams
- "Digitisation is easy? If you know how" / Ed Bremner, TASI
- "Construction images for a VLE - lessons learnt from the BuilDNER and
HERBE projects" / Paul Sandford - "An introduction to IPR and how it might
affect the department resource" / Grant Young, TASI - "A case study of the
HOTBED project - Delivering Traditional Scottish Music for the RSAMD" /
Stevie Barrett - "Digitised Information: Used or Abused" / Mike Pringle and
Polly Christie, AHDS Visual Arts - "Designing a model for the sustainable
future of digital resources" / Dr Anthony Hamber
