Dear all,
A reminder of the "Children's Geographies conference" being held at the
School of Geography & Geosciences, University of St Andrews Scotland, UK
this coming August. We have changed the previously advertised dates to 13
- 14 August 2004 so that the fit snuggly with those of the IGC in Glasgow
(16 - 20 Aug) so that delegates can make one trip to attend both conferences.
Please find details of the conference at:
http://www.st-andrews.ac.uk/gg/News/childconf04.html
We are now beginning to get expressions of interest and abstracts so do
please contact us if you want to get your name and work on the program
Our own interests involve participatory methods and work with children and
Youths around sexual behaviour and HIV in Zimbabwe. We are therefore
particularly interested to encourage colleagues with interests in children
in developing areas. However, expressions of interest so far have been
wide and varied, covering many fields and regions.
Thus far they include: children's work and exploitation, research methods
and children's play spaces, children's participation in community woodland
organizations, Children and the theory of social capital, children's
emotional well-being in schools, teenagers' use and perception of public
urban space, Theorizing children in International relations research.....
Prospective contributors include both established professors and PhD
students. We are also currently working on attracting important figures
from outside the academy to come and join us.
Hope to hear from some more of you soon
Yours
Mike Kesby, Fungi Gwanzura-Ottemoller, Monica Chizororo
