I know Claire asked for responses off-list, but several others have since asked to be copied-in. Besides which, this list is all about sharing information....
Take a look at these two websites:
1. Treasury Board of Canada's Information Management Resource Centre, at: http://www.cio-dpi.gc.ca/im-gi/index_e.asp
2. Her Majesty's Stationery Office (HMSO) Online, at: http://www.inforoute.hmso.gov.uk/inforoute/about_iar.htm
Both have lots of useful information on Claire's topic, and others. well worth a visit.

Subject: records/information audit forms
We are currently in the middle of kicking off a corporate information audit
and I have been charged with finding a usable form with which to collate
information and also a tried and tested methodology for conducting the
information audit itself.
I have already consulted the PRO/DIRKS guidance.
I would be particularly interested to hear from colleagues in other LA's
who have already completed surveys and would be prepared to share their
experiences.
Many thanks
Could you reply to me OFF LIST please
