medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
I am working on the political significance of the cult of St Armel in late
medieval Wales. SOMEWHERE I have seen reproductions (black and white - and
possibly line drawings) of the stained glass at Ploermel which depicts
scenes from the life of the saint. I would like to check these, as the
surviving depictions of the saint in Wales (and England) suggest there were
episodes in his life which are not referred to in the surviving vitae.
Does anyone recall seeing the reproductions - and does anyone know where
they are? I would love to visit Ploermel to look at the originals but I
don't know how I would manage that.
This is mainly aimed at Breton and French members of the list. Please
forgive my inability to write in French or Breton. I can read a reply in
French but would struggle with Breton (my Welsh being limited and
colloquial).
