Cartography (North) Service Manager - British Geological Survey - Band 5
Location: Edinburgh
Cartography (N) is part of the Publications Production programme. The
Service Manager will be responsible for the delivery of map databases and
hardcopy output for all core and commissioned programmes in Edinburgh. The
Manager will coordinate approximately 15 staff engaged in GIS and digital
mapping applications. The Manager should have experience of successful
project and staff management, and have a thorough knowledge of the
principles and techniques associated with map production from digital
spatial databases. Quality control and adherence to defined QA procedures
are key responsibilities of the post. The Manager should be aware of the
contribution of IT to future development of the cartographic production
system, and will work closely with the Programme Manager, Cartography (S)
Service Manager, and Head of Information Systems to develop the system. The
Manager will also maintain a close liaison with all Programme Managers in
the Lands & Resources and Environment & Hazards Directorates, and be active
in driving throughput.
