Junior Research Fellow: Late Colonial Studies
Department of Historical Studies, University of Bristol
British Empire and Commonwealth Museum, Bristol
University of the West of England
Qualified candidates are invited to apply for a one-year Junior Research
Fellowship in modern British colonial studies. This is a joint
appointment, funded by the British Empire and Commonwealth Museum (BECM),
University of Bristol (UoB), and University of the West of England (UWE).
You will have research expertise in either the study of the late-colonial
period of British imperial history or as an area specialist.
This should primarily, but not exclusively, cover the twentieth century.
Under the direct supervision of Dr Robert Bickers (UoB), Dr Kent
Fedorowich (UWE), and BECM Director Dr Gareth Griffiths, you will be
responsible for collaborating with permanent academic staff across the
University of Bristol and UWE to develop projects working on archival
holdings at the Museum.
You will be responsible for ensuring greater awareness across the
University of Bristol and UWE of the potential represented by the BECM:
meeting with academics to discuss the BECM, organising public seminars
about the BECM's archival and other holdings, activities and potential.
You will be based at the BECM, but would have allocated space at UWE and
UoB.
