Hi all
I am just trying to find out how Local authorities are getting on in
preparing for the Freedom of Information Act. The purpose is to provide
feedback to the LGA on specific issues faced by Local authorities.
So if you are a local authority can you please fill out the following
questionnaire and send back to me or discuss on line. Deadline Friday 20th
February. Once completed I will forward on to the LGA and anyone that's
wants it a summary of findings.
Type of local authority (ie district, county, unitary)
What are the three biggest risks to successful implementation in this
sector and how are they being managed?
What other aspects could be worked on to make FOI easier to implement?
What support networks do you know are available or planned to support FOI?
What steps are being taken to raise awareness with all staff and provide
training to staff handling FOI requests?
What proactive steps are planned or in progress to improve systems and
procedures? (for example, proactive steps to release information, revision
of document format, decision not to charge fees, procurement of IT system,
adding clauses into contracts)
Please answer Yes or No to the following
Have you appointed an information champion?
Have you appointed a project team?
Have you drawn up a tailored project plan ?
Are you currently reviewing records and following the National Archives'
records management MAP?
Can you score how well you think your authority is prepared for FOI? (1
being unprepared 5 being fully prepared)
Thanks
Tony May
