The following scholarship opportunities were recently advertised in the
national press and may be of interest to list members. The School has
ESRC recognition for postgraduate research training, and all the
relevant schemes are normally available on a full and part-time basis.
In particular, I wanted to note the new MA programme in Racism and
Ethnicity Studies.
DEGREE SCHEMES
MA Taught Courses in Disability Studies; Social & Public Policy; Social
Research; Sociology; Racism and Ethnicity Studies
PhD/MPhil by research: supervision available in: disability; family;
childhood; ethnicity and racism; gender; employment; health; sexuality;
social movements; sociological theory; methodology; comparative social
policy; social exclusion and social policy; housing; social change and
social welfare; discourses of welfare.
SCHOLARSHIPS AND BURSARIES TO STUDY AT LEEDS
We invite applications for the above degrees and the following
scholarships:
* Five International Excellence Awards: one partial fees bursary for an
outstanding international student on each of the School's five MA
schemes
* ESRC scholarship awards - competition for European Union applicants to
MA/PhD (1+3) or PhD (+3) places
* Two Teaching and Research Training Bursaries (these pay fees and
maintenance for 1+3 or +3 PhD candidates from European Union countries
in exchange for teaching assistance in the Department)
* University of Leeds Scholarships - for Research Students and MAs
* One full Fee Bursary for the MA scheme in Social Research (funded by
the Centre for Research on Family, Kinship & Childhood for a European
Union student working in their area of interest).
* One full fee Bursary for the MA scheme in Racism and Ethnicity Studies
(this pays fees at EU student level)
