Brian,
Just found that there is an attribute (to jar tag) to specify the jar file
size:
http://lopica.sourceforge.net/quick.html
Haven't found the attribute in the Web Start developer document?
Steve.

Subject: Java Webstart download size
Last night from home I spotted that Webstart (on Windows) displayed in its
download window that it estimated that topcat was 64.8Mb in total size and
would take over 20 minutes - this was rather offputting even on a broadband
link.
It actually needed far less of a download (~10 Mb I think) (on a system
which hadn't Webstarted anything before) and was a lot faster to start than
it had predicted.
Anyone know how Webstart calculates the size and if it can be made more
accurate.
