Hello folks,
I've just come across a project run by a consortium of local authorities,
plus central governemnt agencies to develop and promote standards to support
online service delivery, web-sites etc. Can I ask if anyone has had contact
with this? I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on it. Possibly it is
something the Data Standards Unit can co-ordinate comments on if you feel it
is important.
Theres a website at
http://www.esd-toolkit.org/laws/
which gives background. A couple of particularly interesting things on the
site (for me anyway!) are
1) the Local Government Category list LGCL - a list for the description of
the subject matter of local government documents (released 12th January
2004) ,
2) the PID list - Process Identifiers - which seems to be a centralised list
of all services offered by local authorities.
Both are of interest to me in terms of MIDAS and INSCRIPTION standards
development, But there is much here that may interest those of you putting
your information on the web. At present the coverage of historic environment
matters doesn't appear very extensive. There is an opportunity for feedback
on the LGCL up till the end of March.
Best wishes
