‘Live and Let Die? Disability in bioethics’
Dr Simo Vehmas, Postdoctoral Researcher at the Dept. of Moral and Social
Philosophy, University of Helsinki, Finland
Dr Simo Vehmas was originally educated to become a special needs education
teacher, but decided to stay in the academic sphere. He has held academic
posts at the Universities of Jyväskylä (Dept. of Special Education) and
Turku (Dept. of Education). He has also worked as a visiting academic at
the University of Central Lancashire (Centre for Professional Ethics). He
has written several articles about the moral significance of impairment
and disability in bioethics. At the moment he is working on a Finnish
disability studies textbook.
