Are you a female U.K or Irish postgraduate working in German Studies?
Women in German Studies is a forum set up to support the work of female
academics across the board of German literature and culture, and is currently
renewing memberships for 2004. As a postgraduate, you can join WIGS for £5.
What sort of support?
WIGS organises yearly conferences, open to all members, which provide a
friendly environment in which to present research and meet leading female
academics from across the U.K. and Ireland. Postgraduates have their travel to
these events reimbursed.
There are a number of bursaries available to postgraduate members: each year,
you can apply for up to £100 to help attend other conferences; once during your
time as a postgraduate you can apply for a grant of up to £250 to carry out
research abroad.
You can also sign up for the freelance register if you are interested in taking
on occasional work from publishers, universities etc., and join the online WIGS
Discussion list in order to keep up to date with WIGS events.
