Hello all,
Thanks for the update, Annie. It's great to hear that the conference
planning is underway. I really enjoyed the last one too, and am very much
looking forward to the next. The plans so far sound great.
Best wishes,
Wendy

Thanks Rebekah,
Re the Birmingham Community and Critical Psychology
Conference - we Exeter delegates ( Lisa Thorne and myself)
enjoyed it so much that we offered that the Southwest
Community Psychology Network would host the next
conference, and we have now received the very positive
feedback from the delegates from last time to help us plan.
We have our first conference planning meeting this Friday
23rd January, when we intend to confirm our theme and begin
planning speakers etc. Our current tentative thinking for
the theme is something along the lines of : Challenging
Inequalities: what can community psychologists do? (
building on from last year's theme of poverty, and
responding to a request for more of a focus on action, and
with some efforts to build in more user involvement ).
We
have pencilled in a booking with a conference venue at the
very lively and relaxed Phoenix Art Centre in the middle of
Exeter for 14th and 15th October, so please pencil that in
your diaries now. These dates happily co-incide with our
colleagues from Mind's Off the Wall comedy festival in the
same venue, so we hope to do some joint sessions if we can,
or at least give reduced cost access to comedy slots for
our delegates...
Confirmation,
further details and requests for people to present and
facilitate sessions will follow, and later still we will be
advertising booking details etc.
Any preliminary thoughts anyone out there has about how we
plan the conference, or about the suggested theme,
please send them in before Friday this week!
Regards,
Annie
PS Rebekah Good luck in Bangor; have you got a personal email - I have
a suggested contact for you.
