Hello all,
After a recent meeting of a project which is promoting the creation and
sharing of LOM records I volunteered to set up a non-technical list for
cataloguers who were creating LOM records, or people who were writing the
guidelines for such cataloguing. Many of the people at meeting wanted
advice LOM metadata creation but were distracted, confused and put off when
discussions got too technical.
The list is now set up.
It's not intended for questions/discussion about XML bindings, Identifier
schemes or other specifications like VDEX, Resources List Interoperability
etc -- they can stay on the CETIS-Metadata list (and similar). The new list
is a place for the people who actually do the cataloguing and have to deal
with problems like how to decide who is the publisher of a resource? what
is the publication date of a serial? and maybe people creating application
profiles might want to use this list to make sure they create something
which is practical.
The new list is called lom-cataloguing, details on how to join it are
here: http://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/lists/lom-cataloguing.html
Best wishes, Phil.
