January 2004 Newsletter
Welcome to the New Year and the New NRICH Site. We hope you have managed to
negotiate your way to your favourite problems and had a go at the first
weekly puzzle.
We have done a great deal over the last three months. Not only have we
reorganised the layout of the site but we have been through every problem
from the archive and tagged it with new curriculum tags to make it easier
for you to locate problems that might fit well with the work you are doing.
You may also have noticed that on the problem we list the tags we have used
so you can locate similar ones. We have also done some of this work for you
by listing some possibilities in the form of Similar Problems. Do try the
new search facility and the Maths Finder, which we will continue to
improve.
The Thesaurus also has a new look and now has a graphic interface so that
you can explore concepts by interacting with a concept map. In the future
we will be encouraging users to make reference to the Thesaurus when
tackling problems.
We will be updating the discussion boards in the coming months and in the
future we hope many of you will use them to discuss the problems on the
site (if you are not already doing so)
There is still lots to do. We hope to have the new graphics for the site
ready soon, we still have to tag all the games and articles from the old
Prime site and much more. We will try to keep you up to date with all the
changes as they happen. We will also be developing a registration process
that will give you full access to the site.
Best wishes for the New Year
