They all derive from the OS, although not always from the record cards.
They refer to files and note books kept be the OS surveyors, and where a
name occurs that is the surveyor. Much of the rest refers to the maps
edition being indicated, and some refer to notes added to the maps by
the surveyors.
ONB= Object Name book; Hunts 19se= the relevant county series; corr=
correspondence and rev=revision

Dear all
I may be showing my age here but can anyone decipher these
abbreviations
which frequently occur as sources in the Cambs SMR.
OS ONB, 1925
OS RONB, Hunts, 19 SE, 1924, 31.
OS Corr 6 in, (Tebbutt CF), 04/11/1955
OS Rec 6ins (Anon undated)
OS Rev 6in, 30/06/1950 (AO)
OS Corr 6in and Card Index, 1954 (SJ Hallam)
Obviously these relate to the history of how information was collected
by
the OS and by whom, but what exactly are the different types of
reference?
Is all the information these are referring to that that was on the OS
cards
that formed the basis for many SMRs?
Thanks
Sarah
