sounds odd but worthy...

On 27 January, from 18.30 to 20.30 the Swiss embassy will be hosting an
event described as 'Map of Paradise - Modern mapmaking in support of
Security, Peace and Development Policy'. They are looking for
attendance 'from the fields of culture, art and topography (by which I
think they mean cartography) as well as security, peace and development
policy'. They describe the event as follows:
'The aim of the event is to demonstrate, in a joint debate with British
partners, how modern cartography can support security, peace and
development policy. The Swiss artists Hedrjike Kühne and Beat Klein
have agreed to exhibit their large collage "Map of Paradise" at the
Lecture Hall. After the Ambassador has welcomed the guests, the artists
will say a few words about their work. Mr Erich Gubler, Director of the
Federal Office for National Topography, will give a general talk about
the potential and effects of innovative technologies in the field of
topography (primarily national geodata infrastructure and its positive
effects for private industry; and the new digital atlas of Switzerland).
This will be followed by a short speech by representatives of British
and Swiss Development Cooperations (sic) a discussion and a reception'.
Anyone interested should e-mail their names to the embassy c/o the
cultural counsellor Daniel Haener? The embassy-wide e-mail address is
[log in to unmask] and the fax is 020 7724 7001. Places are
limited and for security reasons must be booked in advance.
