Thanks, Phil. Is it just me, or is the introductory blurb on the ELENA home page incomprehensible?
"Smart learning spaces are defined as educational service mediators, which allow the consumption of heterogeneous learning services..."
Hmmm. Or on the About page:
"3 Design and implementation of a smart space for learning that integrates heterogeneous services such as assessment services, content brokerage, learning management and human resources management."
What the holy %£$*&#!! is "content brokerage"? Perhaps I ought to go on a Beginners Buzzwords course...
Can anyone explain, in a couple of sentences, what ELENA is all about? What I can faintly see through the fog of buzzphrases seems interesting and relevant but I'm not sure I want to spend half the day trying to extract meaningful information from the noise :(
Ok, moan over.
Cheers

2) CEN/ISSS Work on Simple Query Interface has started
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Together with the ARIADNE consortium and the European Schoolnet, the ELENA
consortium has successfully initiated the standardization work on a simple query
interface for learning object repositories. The goal of this initiative, which
is hosted by the CEN/ISSS, is to develop a common communication framework for
exchanging queries between heterogeneous educational nodes. We consider this
work as an important milestone for building so called "Smart Spaces for
Learning". The first release of the specification will be announced in this
mailing list(*).
