I have a medieval moated site in East Yorkshire that
has produced a fair amount of animal bone. Could
anyone suggest any comparitive studies that I could
look at, becuase I'm having trouble finding any
relevant animal bone reports?!!
I also have a cow burial from the same site, dated to
around the15-16th century. Its very deliberately
curled up into the bottom of a small pit (presumably
deliberately small pit - natural is sandy clay so not
hard to dig through). The ribs are missing as it
appears to have had a large post driven through it. It
also appears to be in the entranceway to a post built
structure, probably contemporary. Any parallels
elsewhere?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
thanks
