AHM review
==========
It was thought that All Hands had generally gone well from GridPP
viewpoint. The PPARC stand was in a good location, and Dave Colling on the
demo and SP on stand setting up/coordination did an excellent job. Talks
had all gone well and had been well-received, although those prepared for
the stand, had been difficult to present to a gathered audience.
For next year, it would be important to target potential speakers well in
advance of the submission deadline, to make sure that all GridPP's work
areas were represented. It was also agreed that some general posters would
be made to put on the stand, in addition to the large nomadic stand and
the leaflets. These would set out in more detail what is actually required
to do particle physics on the Grid. For supercomputing, a more scripted
demo would be produced, with a particle physics introduction.
The film had been very successful, and the PMB expressed their thanks to
Sam Rae and Joe Loncraine from Imperial College who had produced it. A
slightly amended version would be shown at GridPP11, and 100 copies
would be made to distribute to GridPP institutes, along with a general
talk introducing GridPP2.
The GridPP AHM press release had received a lot of coverage, including
in The Register, ZDnet, slashdot, PC Pro and the South African
Broadcasting Corporation. A list will be added to the 'In the News'
section of the GridPP website. Much of the coverage is also linked from
NeSC where the AHM news focussed on GridPP:

JPhysG
======
This was now planned to be submitted in October. Pete Clarke had agreed
to help with technical editing after September.
NEW ACTION: SP to put the latest versions of the JPhysG draft on the
GridPP website, for people to comment on.
Deployment Board
=================
DK had circulated a suggested membership for the Deployment Board. It
was agreed that the
Board would include
1. The GridPP Production Manager (leader of the Deployment Team)
2. The GridPP Tier1/A Manager
3. The 4 GridPP Tier2 Technical Coordinators
4. UK HEP SYSMAN chair
5. A representative from the CERN Tier 0/Deployment Group
6. The Applications Area Coordinator
7. The Middleware Area Coordinator
8. Technical Experts (invited by the DB Chair)
9. A deployment representative of the UK National Grid Service
10. A deployment representative of EGEE/Ireland
11. The DB Chair
NEW ACTION: DK to email DB members, inviting them to join and attend the
first meeting on 29 October
MoUs
====
For the Tier-1, TD reported that he now had input from CMS, LHCb and
ATLAS. On the Tier2s, SL had included details on the share of computing
that each experiment would be entitled to at each farm. He was now
collating these. ScotGrid had signed the MoU, so the ScotGrid posts
could now be finalised. No-one was aware of any show-stoppers for the
other Tier2s. Each institute could sign a separate page, and these would
then be put together. SL would try to complete these by GridPP11, and
would also set up a Tier-2 mailing list on JISCmail.
NEW ACTION: SL to set up a Tier-2 mailing list
GridPP11
========
Not all PMB members were yet registered. Others had registered but had
yet to receive a confirmation email. DT reported that SAM and CMS were
having difficulty finding anyone to give their talks. It was agreed that
Gavin Davies (D0) would be invited to give talk remotely, subject to
facilities being available at Liverpool.

AOB
====
SP mentioned http://athome.web.cern.ch/athome/, where CERN currently
have the Beta version of [log in to unmask] CERN will decide next week whether to
release the full version on 29 September. GridPP would press release
this if it did happen, along with PPARC and IoP. It was agreed that
GridPP would form a group to run the programme in the background on
work/home computers, but that running it on Tier-1 or Tier-2 resources
would probably not be in the spirit of the competition.
NEW ACTION: SP to find someone to run a GridPP@home group for LHC@home
The PMB next meeting would be the F2F at Liverpool on Monday 13
September. PMB members should let DB know if they would arrive after 11am.
