once in a seminar saw a map of Europe, in which metric distances were
replaced by a funtion of travel time & traffic magnitude, which is, I think,
precisely what you´re looking for. The result was a very interesting map,
deformed towards a vortex formed around Paris/London/Brussels/Kohln, more or
less. The author of such a map was Michael Wegener, a well known schoolar
from Dortmund University and Institute of Urban and Regional Planning.
