Yodan,
The program is a packed Java .jar-file (java-executable). It
requires no instalation in itself. If your java is properly
installed to run jar-files, it should work by simply
double-clicking the jass.jar-file.
If it tries to save the program as a .zip file, it states it
wrongly. Save it as a .jar file.
For mozilla/netscape:
sometimes it tries to download file-types it
doesn't recognize directly as were they .html or .txt files,
which then takes time and appears as if the program froze. It
doesn't. Wait long enough and a jumble of characters will appear,
displaying how the .jar file looks technically. (technically, you
can then save that page as Jass.jar and it works...)
Instead, right-click on the link and choose "save link target
as". Again, if it suggests anything but "jass.jar" as filename,
that is your browser making an error. Rename it.
To solve this issue, I will put up a zip-ed version as soon as I
find the time for it.
Back to the Java Issue:
If I remember correctly, if you have not connected .jar files
to be run by the java runtime environment (which java
should do automatically upon installment on a pc) you can fix
this by connecting the filetype .jar to javaw.exe in the java/bin
folder (set it under 'folder options' - 'filetypes' in the explorer).
I think some other software (winrar) overrides this connection
upon installment if you are not careful, which may cause
problems. Also, you need Java 2, (JRE 1.4.2) - earlier versions
won't run the program.
If you continue to have problems, please look at
http://www.java.com/en/download/help/
since the problem, I'm afraid, probably lies in your installation
of Java.
That should cover the possible problems as far as I can read in
your mail.
