Celynin is probably the name from which the parish name Llangelynin
is formed. Llangellynin is the coastal parish north of Tywyn. I
suspect that Wilkinson gives it as a separate parish to Llangelynin
because that is the form it was used in the references he cites.
Wilkinson mentions Henddol quarry SH618123 near Friog as a 'see also'
for Celynin. Hendre says see also Goleuwern SH621123 (listed as
Golwern by Alun Richards) and Llwyngwril quarries.
So, I suspect the mine and quarry were somewhere in the area between
Friog and Llangelynin. I've had a look at the 1887 6" map but I can't
see any thing that might be a candidate other than some unnamed slate
levels about 1.5km east of Llwyngwril and an unnamed quarry on the
coast about 2km south of Llangelynin.
It's possible that some of the references that Wilkinson gives might
contain a clue as to the exact location.

Nearest station is probably Llangelynin, Llwyngwril, or Fairbourne.
