Following the success of our first publication "Devon Great Consols, a
colection of contemporary articles" the Tamar Mining Press is delighted to
announce the release of our second book: "Mines of the Tamar & Tavy, a
collection of C.F.Barclay's mine reports 1917 - 1940".
Barclay was a mining engineer, active in the area during the inter war
years. During this period he visted, usually in the company of R.W. Toll,
numerous mines in West Devon, both working and abandoned. His findings he
recorded in a series of reports and it is a selection of these that this
book covers. The mines covered in this volume include: Devon Great United,
Devon Great Consols, Bedford United, Ding Dong, South Bedford, Luscombe,
West Wheal Crebor, Wheal Crebor, Russell United, East Wheal Russell,
Tavistock Canal Tunnel, South Crebor, William & Mary, Bedford Consols,
Little Duke, Tavy Consols and Gawton.
Mines of the Tamar & Tavy is A4, with card covers and a stapled/taped spine
(very similar to the Devon Great Consols publication), it runs to 84 pages
and contains 15 maps/diagrams.
The book is priced £9 plus £1 postage and packing (Cheques payable to
R.J.Stewart) and is available from:
