The Museum of London is currently advertising two posts, both of which are
heavily involved with information management and information access
initiatives, details below. The background to this is that I am leaving at
the end of April: the first post is my replacement while the second is a new
post, established in recognition of the workload in this area.
The Museum of London Group is one of the world's largest urban history
Museums and consists of the Museum of London at London Wall, the Museum in
Docklands, the Museum of London Archaeology & Specialist Services and London
Archaeological Archive & Research Centre. Its role is to explore the
relationship of London's past with its present and its future.

We are looking for fill two key positions to contribute to our mission to
inspire a passion for London.
Head of Information Resources Salary £31,629 - £41,175 pa
As our primary source of expertise on information management, you will be
responsible for the strategic development of information about the Museum's
collections. The post has a lead role in making information accessible to
staff, researchers and the public, a key aspect of the Museum's Strategic
Plan. You will play a major part in delivering partnership-based projects
for the Museum and the regional Hub. You will be responsible for the
Museum's library and archive collections and the development of both
services and for the Museum's registration services. You will manage the
Information Resources Section and the implementation of its work programmes.
You will have at least 5 years' practical experience of information policy
and management and access work within a museum, library or archive
environment, with a relevant professional degree.
A pragmatic approach combined with excellent leadership, communication and
interpersonal skills are essential as is your experience of IT database
systems.
Documentation Officer Salary £25,143 - £29,262 pa
This newly created post will be responsible for the development of
information about the Museum's collections and will support the development
of information access within the Museum and the regional Hub. You will be
the lead user for the information management systems used for our museum,
library and archive collections, develop standards and the quality of
information, support staff in the use of the systems and standards,
implement audit recommendations and manage or contributing to information
access projects.
You will need at least two years' relevant experience or a qualification in
museum studies or information science. You will bring experience of
project management and the ability to use IT database and digitisation
systems.
