Having read both Lesley Ogg and Lesley Crawshaw's postings, I would just
like to take the opportunity to alert list members to the fact that Oxford
University Press Journals have had a similar situation to CUP this year.
From January 2004 we unbundled our print and online subscriptions for
organisations, so that for a majority of our titles customers have 3
options:
1. Combined Institutional Subscription - Print with Online (site license)
Subscription
2. Online-only Institutional Subscription -10% discount off the Standard
Institutional Subscription rate.
3. Print-only Institutional Subscription- Print-only subscriptions are
available on request at a 5% discount off the Standard Institutional
Subscription.
As CUP have found, the larger agents have defaulted to a print-only option
unless requested otherwise by the customer - unfortunately in some cases
sending out renewals which incorrectly offered online free with print
subscriptions.
We began communicating our change of policy to customers and agents early
last year, and have graced online subscriptions this year until 31st March
2004. We are continuing to contact our print-only renewals throughout this
year and hope that you will have had this information already via our
various communications.
However you may wish to check your OUP subscriptions to ensure that you have
renewed to the correct subscription for your organisation and retain access
to the current content online. Customers are entitled to ongoing access to
previously paid for content online where available - see our Archival FAQs
for more details http://www3.oup.co.uk/jnls/help/librarians/archive_faq.html
This model will still apply for 2005 and a full price list will be announced
shortly.
In the meantime full details of the 2004 price list along with policy and
license information can be found at http://www3.oup.co.uk/jnls/prices/
Kind Regards
